Peppy is a Gem 10/22/20

 We went to Penny's parent conferences at WA yesterday. All her teachers spoke earnestly about how much they like her. It brought tears to our eyes to see how much they think of her, and value her contributions to class both in attitude and social warmth. She makes teachers feel good, and she is very self-aware. Her teachers had her write her goals for that class or the year... and her ideas were very genuine and focused on growth. She stated that she's feeling very happy with her life, school, and her friends. She likes working, and she enjoys being home. She is really sweet and kind. We love her so much.We are so thankful for our kids and their experiences at WA. It was a very positive and affirming experience.

The kids at home... 10/22/20

 Today was interesting with the kids at home... I was teaching 2D Art and realizing that some of my remote students were not really present. I was calling on them and asking them questions about their work and they could not respond. I sent them emails about it, and some to parents as well. I put a message in Classroom for all my classes:  Hey Everyone! It's been great to have students back in our classrooms! I just want to clarify... as we start to do "hybrid" learning, the remote learners are going to need to work a bit harder to stay on-task, and stay involved. The workload for this class assumes that you are using your studio time at home, so if you don't use the class time regularly for class work, you will struggle to learn the skills and do well on the assignments. Unseasonably warm yesterday, & other stuff

 Yesterday slowly went from the chilly days that we've been having to 74 F by the afternoon. I found myself driving around in my light winter jacket and regretting all that insulation. I grilled burgers for Carol and I and we ate outside. I got to walk RJ in the dark with short sleeves on. Not bad for mid-October. Probably won't last... On other minutiae I picked up some Athletic Brewing NA IPA and it's pretty darn tasty. Carol's been drinking the Ritual fake tequila and likes it with selzer. I just transferred a batch of cider to the keg. It's one of the last blends of P1 & P3, that has a pretty good acid/sweet balance. I need to order a carbonation stone, so keep my carbonation keg lid working. Yesterday I picked up the undeliverable yearbooks from the PO and there was a dozen of them.
